The Saga of the 2016 Supermoon has come and gone. Night on the 14th of November 2016, the Moon was closer to the Earth than normal and shone the brightest since 1948. The phenomenon, called a Supermoon, happens when the moon is full at the same time that it’s orbiting at its closest point to Earth.
the science behind the supermoon lies in the revolution of the Moon around the earth, of which its path of motion is elliptical. That is the reason why the moon doesn’t appear the same size, or shine with the same luminance every night.
We won’t be seeing another major Supermoon until November 25, 2034. So keep a date with the future, in case you missed this years. Meanwhile, I scouted the Internet and below were the some of the best supermoon images from across the world.
